Biography: Nash Jocic
Rogan Doecke (Client, Investor & friend) says of Nash Jocic ‘Within a short space of time Nash has totally transformed my physique. His expertise and experience in the field of fitness, nutrition and life coaching provided me with a kind of framework for my future wellbeing.’
Nebojsa Nash Jocic was born on 1st of February 1962 in Skopje, then Yugoslavia, and now Macedonia. Throughout his childhood Nash was surrounded by sport; his father was a professional footballer and his mother was a professional basketball player. He was about 16 when he discovered bodybuilding. Fascinated with the ability of the human body to change and develop, Nash lived and dreamed bodybuilding. What especially appealed to him was that bodybuilding is a sport where everything depends on the individual - passion, determination, knowledge and consistency.
At the age of 18, after secondary school, Nash entered the National Army Service, which was compulsory for every one at the age of 18. The next 12 months were spent in the elite special military units of the Yugoslavian army. Whilst in the army, he never stopped his training and earned great respect being a devoted athlete. His personality and character which he believes he inherited from his grand father (former general in the king’s guard), helped him to become the commander of the special unit after only 3 months in service!
After a year spent in the army Nash decided to open his first gym in the town of Skopje,
now the capital of Macedonia, in 1982. His first gym was called Athlete and was a great success. The right place to train was required and opening a gym in those days was driven by passion and enthusiasm rather than any business ambition. With great help and support from his life long friend Dusko Popovski, Nash attracted a lot of fitness enthusiasts and his gym became a real attraction and destination for everyone and anyone looking for a better body and good health.
He started studying anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and nutrition as well as training techniques and systems in order to make as much progress as possible. Whilst being one of the most promising students at university, Nash began to think about competing in the bodybuilding arena and started travelling around the country only to discover that in Yugoslavia at that time there was not enough information to satisfy his appetite for success. He soon started travelling around Europe and learning from the best bodybuilders and weight lifters from England, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Bulgaria.
In 1985 Nash started his successful competitive career which he still enjoys today. He won many shows including heavy weight champion of Yugoslavia 5 times, 3 wins at International shows, 6 times winner of national grand prix and was a member of the Yugoslavian national team for 6 consecutive years. “Wining all those shows and titles was an amazing experience. Being cheered and respected wherever I appeared, as an idol of so many young people, gave me enormous pleasure but I also felt a great responsibility’.
Two years later he published a book called ‘Bodybuilding Nutrition’ the first book in its field which achieved great success. In 1988 he attained a University Degree in Philosophy and Psychology and published his second book ‘Training for Mass’ which quickly became the text book for everyone in the country wanting to increase muscle mass.
In 1992 the inevitable happened; war started in Yugoslavia, first in Slovenia and then in Croatia. Yugoslavia was dead. Being Yugoslavian at heart Nash didn’t want to stay there any more, and decided to come to Britain. He qualified as a master personal trainer, clinical nutrition consultant and added these to his existing qualifications in weight training and nutrition.
In 1997, Nash formed Ultimate Shape to provide personal training, nutrition consultancy and fitness information. In 2000 Ultimate Shape released on DVD the Ultimate Shape Training - one of the most advanced training films of its time. The DVD was endorsed by 6 times Mr Olympia Dorian Yates – one of the greatest bodybuilding champions ever! Overwhelmed by demand, Nash decided to release DVD box sets (4 DVD’s for women and 7 for men), followed by a whole range of Fitness Training Video Downloads for men and women. “Although I regularly train and advise my clients in London, I wanted to offer my expertise and experience to an even wider audience so that people can benefit from them globally. Now with my new range of DVDS, e-books and downloadable options from my website ultimateshape.com that has become an exciting reality.”
In 2007 he established his new company Ultimate Shape Gyms offering a unique gym experience to the UK public, finally delivering quality to the fitness industry.
“People are simply fed up and disillusioned of the same shallow fitness messages coming from different companies. They have not helped them to get in better shape, become stronger or lose body fat, not to mention achieving a better life style. Ultimate Shape and Ultimate Shape Gyms will offer exactly what is now missing to the UK fitness industry - real information and service beyond compare with only one goal in mind; to help people live healthier, look better and achieve more productive lifestyles.”
Nash currently lives in London with his wife Victoria and 2 children - a 7-year-old son Milos and 9-year-old daughter Nicol.
